God's Politics What if you knew me outside of your perception of who you think I should be? What if you made an unprogrammed choice to guide perceptive thinking? I didn't ask to be different I prayed that I'd be changed but the answer wasn't what I sought so I stepped up to take my place I know most are pretending put on a happy face they lament dreams they abandoned scattered along the way What were yours? What were yours? Life is full of compromise so it's easy to object embracing my difference makes you sore proceeding circumspect But are my prayers less sacred? A few people have asked for more specific details about what this song means... Yemaya is a Goddess who is the Protectress of Women--originating in Africa like all other Gods and Goddesses, so there are many variations of her name. The song is replete with references to the symbols associated with Yemaya--namely, the ocean, the colors blue and white, the moon, cowrie shells, flowers floating on the ocean, the number seven, and healing. The transmutation through burning refers to quantum spiritual growth. The 2nd stanza in the 2nd verse started the whole song--I woke up and I had been crying in my sleep... the sun was coming through the window and the sun's reflection on the water in my eyes gave the appearance of looking out through a kaleidoscope. It was beautiful. Through it, I was straining my vision searching for someone I once greatly loved, but he was no longer part of my life. The alchemists of the Middle Ages used the hexagram as a symbol representing the art of alchemy, and the triangles that create the hexagram are a sign for combinations of fire and water. The hexagram was also a symbol of quintessence, the fifth and highest element in ancient and medieval philosophy that permeates all nature and is the substance composing the celestial bodies; also, the essence of a thing in its purest and most concentrated form. At one point, the hexagram--used as an amulet against fever--was called "Solomon's seal." Song of Solomon is my creative concept integration--Song of Solomon, of course, is a collection of love poems forming a book in the Protestant canon of the Old Testament--Solomon being the son of David king of Israel known for his wisdom. So I am seeking an existence sustained by love of self and others based on wisdom and I am asking Yemaya for her help.
