A few people have asked for more specific details about what this song means...
Yemaya is a Goddess who is the Protectress of Women--originating in Africa like all other Gods and Goddesses, so there are many variations of her name. The song is replete with references to the symbols associated with Yemaya--namely, the ocean, the colors blue and white, the moon, cowrie shells, flowers floating on the ocean, the number seven, and healing.
The transmutation through burning refers to quantum spiritual growth. The 2nd stanza in the 2nd verse started the whole song--I woke up and I had been crying in my sleep... the sun was coming through the window and the sun's reflection on the water in my eyes gave the appearance of looking out through a kaleidoscope. It was beautiful. Through it, I was straining my vision searching for someone I once greatly loved, but he was no longer part of my life.
The alchemists of the Middle Ages used the hexagram as a symbol representing the art of alchemy, and the triangles that create the hexagram are a sign for combinations of fire and water. The hexagram was also a symbol of quintessence, the fifth and highest element in ancient and medieval philosophy that permeates all nature and is the substance composing the celestial bodies; also, the essence of a thing in its purest and most concentrated form. At one point, the hexagram--used as an amulet against fever--was called "Solomon's seal."
Song of Solomon is my creative concept integration--Song of Solomon, of course, is a collection of love poems forming a book in the Protestant canon of the Old Testament--Solomon being the son of David king of Israel known for his wisdom. So I am seeking an existence sustained by love of self and others based on wisdom and I am asking Yemaya for her help.
Incantation to Yemaya
A solitary moment
In yielding waves of time
Crystallizing clouds
shroud blossoms with a rime
but that which fast protects them
shall finally still the being
effecting transmutation
through a volcanic fiery ring
Awaken my sacred power
Beyond the primal scream
I’ve known the “what” but not the “how”
To actualize my dream
Song of Solomon in all its charm
Bewitch the masses to disarm
Enchanted eyes follow curried light
Kaleidoscoping blue and white
Sea mother of the crescent moon
Cleanse my sorrow, hear my rune
Moon-goddess of the protective sea
Wash your waves clean over me
All life begins here, and all life ends
The summer solstice fast ascends
The mystery inside the hexagram
does not reveal who I am
The moon has waned, the tide influx
and the cowrie shells scatter to hide
Yemaya, draw near my heart
to protect and purify
The time has come for letting go
of that which occupies my soul
Immersed in seven waters bright
Christened with saturated hopes
The sunlight begs to see you
through the mist inside my eyes
But the energy cannot discern
through shape shifting disguise
A light beyond redemption
Implores you to remember me
Radiance transcends rebirth
with flowers cast upon the sea
Song of Solomon in all its charm
Bewitch the masses to disarm
Enchanted eyes follow curried light
Kaleidoscoping blue and white
Sea mother of the crescent moon
Cleanse my sorrow, hear my rune
Moon-goddess of the protective sea
Wash your waves clean over me
All life begins here, and all life ends
The summer solstice fast ascends
The mystery inside the hexagram
does not reveal who I am
The moon has waned, the tide influx
and the cowrie shells scatter to hide
Yemaya, draw near my heart
to protect and purify
